Teens to Washington, D.C.
The North Shore Teen Initiative is taking a group of 9th to 12th graders to join high school students from across the country to participate in an interactive, four-day retreat in Washington, D.C.
The “L’Taken Social Justice Seminar” focuses on Jewish values and social justice. Every year, more than 100 congregations from across the country bring their high school students to this exciting event. This unique opportunity enables students to hear from experts both inside and outside the Jewish community.
The L’Taken seminars allow students to lobby on Capitol Hill, tour the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and participate in Havdallah services at one of the memorials. Students also sample the vibrancy of Georgetown and other areas of Washington, D.C.
NSTI’s trip to D.C. is scheduled for February 19 to 22, 2010. Students will miss school on Monday, February 22, in order to be able to lobby on Capitol Hill around the topics that they have been studying. The deadline for application and payment is Dec. 24, 2009. For more information, call NSTI at 781-244-5544 or email (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
