Sarasota, FL —   Rabbi Ed Weinsberg, a health care educator, author and retired rabbi, and Dr. Andrew Wagner, a prominent urologist and robotic surgeon, will speak in Brookline and Marblehead on September 9 and 10 as part of a National Prostate Cancer Awareness Tour.

The tour emphasizes why men need prostate cancer screening, starting at age 40, and highlights ways to recover from prostate cancer when it strikes. Their message is aimed at those most affected by prostate cancer, namely men and their wives or partners in their 40s to 60s and older.

Rabbi Weinsberg and Dr. Wagner will speak at Congregation Kehillath Israel of Brookline at 384 Harvard Street on Wednesday, September 9, and also at the Jewish Community Center at 4 Community Road in Marblehead on Thursday, September 10. These free events take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. David Kauder will serve as moderator for the Marblehead event.

Rabbi Weinsberg, recently featured on Good Morning America (http://www.youtube.com/v/qbKgEmmIcIE&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0), will describe how men and women already affected by prostate cancer can rekindle their romance, while hastening recovery through humor and faith. His comments are based on his award-winning book, “Conquer Prostate Cancer: How Medicine, Faith, Love and Sex Can Renew Your Life,” written from his perspective as a prostate cancer survivor and educator.

Dr. Wagner will discuss what men and women need to know about prostate cancer and how to improve doctor-patient communication. Dr. Wagner is the Director of Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Nearly 200,000 American men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year and September has been designated National Prostate Cancer Awareness month by the White House.

Weinsberg is Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Beth El and Congregation Shirat Hayam of the North Shore in Swampscott, MA, where he served 21 years before retiring to Florida.
