The Second Annual Walk to Defeat ALS will be held on Sunday, April 25. The Steve Saling ALS Residence has opened in the new Leonard Florence Center for Living. The building is complete and fully occupied. The ALS house – one of ten residences in the Leonard Florence Center looks likes a luxury condo but delivers professional nursing care.

People living with ALS, their friends and families will walk by 10-person ALS Residence, the first of its kind, with the technology to help residents live as independently as possible: ventilators, lifts, motorized wheelchairs, advanced computer-assisted speech and a caring professional staff.

To join in the Walk or to support those living with ALS, go to http://www.thealswalk.org. Sign on to walk with the team of “Judy (Remis) and Barbara (Wolf)” or click on “Support a Walker.”

ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement.
